Dora the Explorer

My little girl turned 4 and she said she wanted a Dora cake. Her invitations had Dora sliding down a rainbow, so we included the rainbow on her cake. She was very excited!
I had to freehand Dora. I was happy with how she turned out for my first time drawing her. I made the cake 1/2 yellow and 1/2 chocolate because Katie couldn't decide which flavor. Those who got a middle piece were lucky to have a little of both.

Little Mermaid Cake

This was a Little Mermaid Cake for my niece. My sister-in-law purchased the Ariel and bracelet online in a little kit.

Lua Theme Cake

This is one of my niece's birthday cakes. She had a lua and so I made flip flops to sit in the sand on the beach.

Hello Kitty

This was a little girl's first birthday cake. It is a 1/2 sheet cake with Hello Kitty on the front.

I used a basket weave border around the sides of this cake.

Flip Flops

This was for a summery birthday party for a little girl. I cooked a square cake and then cut out the flip flops. I decorated them using buttercream icing, fruit by the foot, and some artificial flowers. It is set on a board with cinnamon sugar to represent the sand at the beach.

Happy Birthday Balloons

My friend's husband had a birthday and asked me to do a cake for him. This was just a 9x13 cake. I used a big tip to do the border and just did some simple little balloons on it.

Fancy Nancy Birthday Cake

I was asked to make a cake to go with a Fancy Nancy birthday party. It you've read these children's books, she's a little girl who loves fancy things. She wears very ruffled dresses and crowns and loves pearls and jewelry. She has a butterfly headband and is very "fancy." So, I used my topsy turvy pan and fancied it up. I used some little pearls and some ruffle material. I also put little butterflies up at the top. If I would have had a crown, I probably would have put a little crown at the very top.

Basketball

Just a big round basketball cake.

Blessing/Christening Cake

This is a cake I did for someone who's baby was getting blessed. It was just some little simple flowers and her name with a ribbon in the corner. It could also be a birthday cake for someone. It is a half sheet cake size.

First Birthday

A co-worker's little girl was turning "1", so I made her some cupcakes for the class...

...and then a little cake for her to dive into. Unfortunately, she fell asleep before they got to the cake so I guess she got into it at home.

"8" Celebration

Our children at church that are turning "8" this year had a little celebration the other night. I made the cake and put the theme on it: "It's Great to be 8". This was a 12" x 18" yellow cake.

Birthday Bear

So, you're probably wondering why this is Christmas colors in February. Well, my pal's little girl just turned 3. She was asked what kind of cake she wanted for her party and she said a "Drop Drop" cake. Drop Drop is her little beanie baby bear that she has had since she was a baby. It has "My first Christmas" on it and of course has the red and green paws. But, hey, since that is the cake she wanted, I made sure to try my best to make the cake look like Drop Drop. Of course, I added a birthday hat with her name and put the big "3" on it for her birthday.

Baby Shower

This cake was for a babyshower for a little girl. I was given the invitation and asked to do the bear the same color, so this is what it looked like on the invitation. The bib on the invitation actually had a duck, but I just didn't have enough room, so Baby had to do.

Birthday Cake

Thanks to my friend Jessica, and all of her beautiful cakes, I made this cake for Mrs. Betty who is one of my assistants where I work. It's just a 2 tiered yellow cake. The bottom layer is a 9 2 layer cake and the top layer is a 6 inch 2 layer cake. It fed both the 3 year old and 4 year old classes--42 kids--and I think Mrs. Betty was able to take a couple of pieces home.

random cupcakes

Just some random cupcakes I did to take to school on Eli and Ginny's birthday.

Smiley faces for Eli

Flowers for Ginny

My First Wedding Cake

My first wedding cake. I did Heather Mayo's cake. I used the basketweave around each--which I loved. I believe 1 layer was pound cake, 1 was red velvet, and 1 was chocolate pound cake. I used good old buttercream frosting on them. The flowers were provided by the florist.

Superman

Eli's 5th birthday this last December was a Superman party. The superman is a figurine I bought online, but I had to create the "water" that he is rising out of. This was a 2 layer half sheet cake. The bottom was chocolate and the top was yellow.

A Barnyard Birthday

For Eli's 3rd birthday we had a barnyard theme. I tinted coconut yellow for the hay and used his Little People figures around the cake. I just made a yellow cake and molded it to a barn.

Katie's first birthday cakes

Katie's first birthday party was a ladybug theme. I made cupcakes (which I can't find a picture of), a 2 layer yellow cake with strawberry jam in between the layers, and a little ladybug for Katie to get into.

Football Mania

After speaking to a friend who has made a football cake request, I remembered my 1st football cake that I made and happened upon the picture. We had a BYU football party with the BYU Alumni Association. I made all of the desserts. I made sugar cookies in the shape of footballs and football helmets. I made a football field sheet cake, cupcakes, and then I also made 2 football cakes. Of course, these were my first, so I'm ready to improve my designs. : )
