Vania's Wedding Cake

I was asked to make this cake for my sister-in-law's sister. The bottom layer is a 16" square. Above that are round layers, size 14", 12", 10", and 8". Each layer has raspberry filling in between. I used buttercream frosting. I did it all in white and the bottom picture is the cake after the gum paste flowers were added. The gum paste flowers were not made by me, but made by my sister-in-law's aunt in Mexico.

Qu Wedding

In Kindergarten, the letters Q and U got married. They had a reception in their classroom to celebrate the union. This was a simple little wedding cake I made for the kids to enjoy.

Fondant Cakes

I was able to practice my fondant techniques this past week. I was asked to make a baby shower cake. They used the colors green and chocolate brown and wanted it to look like 2 gifts on top of one another. The customer made 2 bows of ribbon to go on top and on the bottom where the fondant ribbons cross. If they get me a finished picture I will post it too.

I was also asked this week to make a cake for a friend's surprise 30th birthday party. My friend's wife and I looked at some websites and she really liked this style. We used red, black, and white because it was close to Valentine's but also because my friend graduated from the University of Utah and those are their colors. The bottom and top layers were chocolate pound cake and the middle layer was plain pound cake.

90th birthday cake

My grandma turned 90 years old and we did a party for her. My cousin had a stand that she thought would look pretty, so I decided to do a square tiered cake to put on the stand. The more I thought about it, I decided to try using fondant. I did a 6 inch, 8 inch, 10 inch, and 12 inch cake. Each cake had 2 layers with buttercream frosting in between. I covered each layer with fondant and then put ribbon around the base. My cousin put the flowers on top of each layer after we got it to the church for the party. The top, next to the bottom, and bottom cakes were all regular pound cake. The second cake down was a chocolate pound cake (my favorite).

My First Wedding Cake

My first wedding cake. I did Heather Mayo's cake. I used the basketweave around each--which I loved. I believe 1 layer was pound cake, 1 was red velvet, and 1 was chocolate pound cake. I used good old buttercream frosting on them. The flowers were provided by the florist.
